Grosvenor Park Primary School

How are the staff trained and kept up to date? If we need more expert help and advice, what do we do?

Our SENDCo is an experienced teacher who has a passion for ensuring all children receive the best education.

Mrs Price attends regular update meetings and training within the area of SEND and shares the relevant information with staff through training or through a discussion about an individual.

The school identities whole school training needs based on the needs of the children as a wider group, recently this has included training on ACE's, precision teaching, dyslexia and working memory.

We have regular meetings with TAs. This can help to keep TAs informed of training provided to teachers and support with any queries or advice surrounding the needs of our SEN pupils.

We are committed to ensuring all staff are trained to meet the additional needs and their knowledge is updated when necessary. As a school, we work closely with a range of external specialist services which are relevant to our pupil's needs. We dedicate part of our budget to external agency support to ensure children can be assessed accurately and, in turn, staff can receive the appropriate training and support. The support includes Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists and Specialist Teachers.

Where appropriate, Grosvenor Park is able to access expert advice in other areas, including health, through the School Nurse, physiotherapists, occupational health, Childrens’ Mental health Services amongst others. Referrals to these outside agencies and support services are subject to their own guidelines and time frames.
