Grosvenor Park Primary School

Our School Leaders

Our school operates a leadership structure of a Headteacher who is supported by four able Senior Leaders. Additionally, many of our teachers undertake a 'Subject' Leader role (details below).

Jordan Fern

Headteacher

Hello and a warm welcome to our beautiful school! I’m Mr Fern, and I’m incredibly proud to say this is now my 13th year as part of the Grosvenor Park family. Time really does fly when you’re surrounded by such amazing children—every day brings new smiles, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

You’ll often find me involved in every aspect of school life, working alongside our fantastic team to truly MAKE a DIFFERENCE for every member of our community. Whether it’s greeting families at the gate, cheering on our sports teams, or joining in with creative classroom projects, I love being part of the daily magic that happens here.

Some of my favourite highlights include:

  • Our unforgettable London and Winmarleigh residential trips, where children grow in independence and confidence while making lifelong memories.
  • The huge variety of clubs and sporting competitions on offer—from football to pottery—ensuring there’s something for everyone.
  • Our rich, inspiring curriculum that equips children to become curious, resilient, lifelong learners.
  • And above all, the incredible sense of unity and togetherness that shines through in everything we do.

Grosvenor Park is a place where every child is valued, every talent is celebrated, and every day is an adventure.

Laura Martin

Assistant Headteacher

Mrs Martin has been part of the school community for over ten years and plays a key role in both teaching and leadership. She loves teaching in Year 5/6 and leads the school’s curriculum, ensuring that it is carefully designed, ambitious, and consistently delivered across all year groups so that everyone is challenged and supported. Her role involves working closely with staff to monitor standards and create opportunities so that enable every pupil is able to achieve.

In addition to her leadership responsibilities, Mrs Martin organises our wide range of extra-curricular clubs, broadening the experiences available to pupils and enriching their time at school. She loves the way that people at Grosvenor Park are excited to try something new and love seeing children represent their school proudly. She is a strong supporter of the whole school team and is committed to fostering a culture of collaboration and teamwork.

Away from school, Mrs Martin enjoys following Formula One and values time spent with her family. Her young daughter keeps her busy, and she loves making special memories with her.

John Wilson

Assistant Headteacher (SENDCo)

Mr Wilson is our school's SENDCo

Since qualifying over a quarter of a century ago, he has only taken a one year break from our school family to help out with a small rural school. He is drawn to the Grosvenor Park family because they are a supportive, caring group who work together to make a difference in each others' lives.

He likes nothing better than to encourage the people that he works with to be resilient learners and to challenge themselves to achieve their best.

All of the work that school has undertaken to achieve three Green Flag awards has inspired Mr Wilson to reduce his carbon footprint by running or cycling to school most days.

At home, Mr Wilson loves spending time with his family, just being together and creating happy memories.

Rebecca Walton

Assistant Headteacher

Miss Walton is a passionate and experienced educator with over ten years of teaching across the primary phase. Throughout her career, she has taught in every key stage, developing a deep understanding of the curriculum and the diverse needs of learners at each stage of their educational journey.

Now in her third year at Grosvenor Park Primary School, Miss Walton serves as Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for academic interventions and supporting the SENDCo. She leads on the strategic planning and delivery of targeted support, ensuring that all pupils—particularly those with additional needs—receive the personalised provision they require to succeed. She loves to see how the staff and families at Grosvenor Park work together to ensure the best outcomes for all pupils.

As part of her passion for Mathematics, Miss Walton has completed Primary Mastery Maths Specialist training. This year, she will be leading a work group for schools across Cumbria, supporting the development of mastery approaches in their schools. She will also be leading a group to strengthen Maths subject knowledge among Early Career Teachers in the local area. Her work in this field reflects her dedication to raising standards and fostering confidence in Maths teaching and learning

During her free time, Miss Walton enjoys spending time with her family and walking her dachshund. She is an avid football fan and can often be found supporting her favourite team- Leeds United.

Kelly Taylor

SLT

Miss Taylor has been a proud member of staff at Grosvenor Park Primary School since 2017. During this time, she has enjoyed teaching across a range of year groups. After spending five years in Year 6, she is now embracing the rewarding contrast of teaching in Reception and Years 1/2, using a continuous provision approach to support early learning.

Throughout her time at Grosvenor Park, Miss Taylor has led the development and successful implementation of the school’s History curriculum. She is passionate about inspiring in children the same love of history that she developed during her own education. In addition to her subject leadership, she has also overseen the Children’s University programme, promoted outdoor learning and played a key role in enhancing active break times across the school.

Miss Taylor is now excited to take on leadership of the Early Years Foundation Stage, where she is committed to ensuring every child receives the best possible start to their education. She aims to provide meaningful, inspiring, and challenging experiences through high-quality provision, thoughtful interactions and effective implementation of the EYFS statutory framework.

Outside of school, Miss Taylor enjoys increasing her endorphins at the gym and improving her wellbeing with outdoor walks with her crazy cocker spaniel.
