English
In English this term our learning will centre around the book ‘Jack and the baked bean stalk’ by Colin Stimpson.

This alternative traditional tale will provide many opportunities for us to discuss themes and compare the similarities across traditional tales whilst also being the stimiulus for some producing some more fantastic writing. We are all so proud of the progress the children have made in their writing last term we are excited to see what they can produce this term.
We will first use the idea of an ‘alternative‘ tale to help us plan and write our own version of another traditional tale before using our upcoming science unit to inspire some instructions writing. We will explore some more poetry, this time we will learn and re-write our own version of the Nut Tree by Julia Donaldson. Finally, we will finish the year by a non-chronological report likely linked to our science unit all about plants!

Handwriting!
Handwriting is really starting to come on in Class 3 which is great! Please keep doing lots of fine and gross motor skills practise at home to help support this. This could include playing with play doh, painting, using pegs and tweezers and playing on the monkey bars!
