Grosvenor Park Primary School

English

This term our learning will centre around Race to The Frozen North by Catherine Johnson.

We’ll be re-telling the story, as well as writing newspaper reports and diary entries from different character’s perspectives. By exploring different writing purposes, the children will continue to develop and consolidate the skills they have been taught in the previous year.

Spelling continues to be a huge focus in MP2 and we will be looking specifically at words from the Year 3 and 4 Statutory Spelling list. We appreciate any support we get at home in practising these spellings and working towards earning our spelling badges.

Here are some websites to support your child's learning in English:

Handwriting

Handwriting is really important for making us proud of our work and helping to remember spelling. Here is the handwriting policy in case you would like to do any practise at home.

Reading is such a HUGELY important skills so we would like you to practise as much as you can!

You should be reading to an adult every night at home and getting your Reading Record signed to show it. Just send a note or an email if you forget!

Below are some lists of suggested books that are not only AMAZING, but will help you read a wide range and try out some new authors!

If you find a book that you love, who not write a book review telling us all about it! We can display it in class and encourage your friends to try it too!
