Where would you choose to build a city?

What will we be learning?

During our theme lessons this term, we will be learning all about some of the major cities in the UK and Europe. We are going to work hard to develop our map reading skills by locating major cities, landmarks and important features on a map. We will also use maps to help us identify the common features of a city and investigate the differences between a city, town and a village. We will take a look back and consider why most major cities were built near a river before focusing on the journey of a river and recapping the water cycle. During this brilliant unit, the children will have the chance to learn how some of the world's tallest skyscrapers are built before becoming engineers themselves when they design and build their very own skyscraper.
