Reading
STEP INTO THE WORLD OF BOOKS...
Class 4 LOVE sharing a story and I love finding books to share with the children; both fiction and non-fiction. I have read many books to the class that I enjoyed as a child and it's a wonderful feeling! We have so many favourites we return to time and time again. We love finding a point in the day where we spend 10 minutes enjoying a good story on the carpet or outside if it's not pouring down!
We have read some amazing stories written by a huge number of brilliant authors but we do have our favourites! We've listed them below.
Julia Donaldson
Nicholas Allan
(The Royal Nappy is a class favourite!)
Roald Dahl
Mini Grey
Oliver Jeffers
Nick Butterworth
Janet and Allan Ahlberg
Shirley Hughes
Please find time in your day to read with your child. Just TEN MINUTES every day can make a huge difference to their reading skills. A warm drink, a couple of biscuits and a good book.... heaven!
READING BOOKS AND READING RECORDS
The children's Reading Records will be checked DAILY. PLEASE ensure you sign their Reading Record each day you read with your child.
The children will have their TWO reading books changed WEEKLY each TUESDAY. They'll also get to choose a 'free reader' to read for enjoyment and pleasure. It is not an expectation that they should be able to read it independently; they can enjoy it with family and friends! Reading TO your child is just as important as hearing them read.
The more you read, the BIGGER and WILDER your imagination!
Thank you,
Miss Rafferty
