What are we learning in Maths?
In the summer term, we are going to be spending a lot of time learning and practising our basic number skills. We will focus heavily on the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) as well as working hard to secure our understanding of place value.
We will be working on our knowledge and quick recall of number facts (e.g., number bonds to 10 and 100, times tables and division facts, etc) and use this to help us solve calculations mentally. We will also work on our understanding of the 'Bar Model' to solve problems involving the four operations and other formal written methods.
During each lesson, we will include elements of reasoning and problem solving to help children learn a variety of strategies to solve mathematical problems.
In addition to all of this, we will also be working on our understanding of shape, measure, time and statistics.
*We really hope that lots more children will work on achieving their Maths badges before the end of the year!*
