THE RAINBOW FISH
In the Autumn term, our English lessons will be based around the novel 'The Rainbow Fish' by Marcus Pfister. One of Miss Douglas' all time favourite stories!
We will be looking at sentences from scratch, including what they are and how to write one. The children will also be reminded of the three 'non-negotiables' when it comes to writing; capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.
As the term progresses, we will also begin to think about how we can extend our sentences with joining words as well as how we can create more interest with the use of powerful verbs and noun phrases.
This term we will also work towards producing a piece of descriptive writing as well as a non-fiction chronological report of a sea creature.
We will also continue to have daily phonics, spelling and Guided Reading sessions to further consolidate children's learning and understanding.
